Tue Mar 12 18:30 - "Stop The Bleed" Training session
Sponsored & Hosted by PMES
Description: STOP THE BLEED will train you in the most current techniques to stop major bleeding from cuts,
stabs, amputation, and gun shots. This is not your grandmother's first aid course, responses to current
events are addressed. The staff uses prosthetic devices that they can pump 'blood' through so that you can
feel exactly how much pressure is needed to apply to a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. That is but one
of the methods that will be taught. I personally feel that as many people as possible should learn these
techniques as there is a very good chance that you might use these skills on someone, OR YOURSELF.

Thu Jul 11 2019 18:30 - STOP the Bleed training
No prior first aid training is needed to take the class.
Free & Open to the public, just call Dave (570) 642-1042 to register!
As part of the national Stop the Bleed campaign, Geisinger CMC Trauma Services has developed a community outreach program for
the general public on how to manage life threatening bleeding until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or first responders arrive.
This "B-Con" course follows the program that was developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT)
from the Hartford Consensus group. The program is approximately 60 — 90 minutes in length and teaches the basic principles of bleeding
control and tourniquet use until trained emergency providers arrive. The program is a combination of lecture, video, demonstration,
and hands on skill stations using direct pressure, gauze packing, dressings, and tourniquets.
This course is designed for Teachers, Day Care workers, Firefighters, Law Enforcement Officers, Students,
Food Service workers, and the general public.
No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on the scene.
A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, so it's important to quickly stop the blood loss.
Remember to be aware of your surroundings and move yourself and the injured person to safety, if necessary.
Call 911
Bystanders can take simple steps to keep the injured alive until appropriate medical care is available.

Sun Nov 3 2019 02:00 - Change Your Clock, Change Your BatteriesTM
It's that time of year again! Change Your Clock, Change Your BatteriesTM!
Every fall, Energizer works to remind people of the simple, life-saving habit of changing and testing the batteries in smoke
alarms and carbon monoxide detectors when setting the clocks back for daylight saving time.
The National Fire Protection Association reports that 71% of smoke alarms which failed to operate had missing, disconnected
or dead batteries. This reinforces how important it is to take this time each year to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Energizer would like to remind you of the importance of batteries not only in smoke alarms, but also the full range of devices
that help keep us safe, secure and comfortable in our homes.
Home safety and security has evolved beyond smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Many families rely on other home devices
connected to the Internet or their smartphones, also known as the Internet of Things, to enhance safety and security. Energizer
provides smart energy for smart devices with battery options across our portfolio that power these connected home devices.
Energizer is committed to educating you about home safety. Partnering with retailers and fire stations across the country,
we want to remind you to change your batteries in all of your connected home devices when you change your clocks back for Daylight Saving Time.
You can also use social media to help spread the word and remind friends and family to change the batteries in their smoke and
carbon monoxide detectors, along with all of their connected home devices on November 4.
Make sure to follow Energizer® on Facebook to get tips and information about home and fire safety during October.
